What Is the Cheapest VPS You Can Get in Egypt?

Short answer: The cheapest useful VPS is usually a small, unmanaged Linux server. At IM HOST, the entry plan is Nano at $5/month with 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM and 40 GB NVMe. Micro ($6), Lite ($7) and Basic ($8) add cores and memory. Before choosing the lowest price, check backups, control panel licences, renewal terms and dollar billing. From Egypt you can pay by card, InstaPay or Vodafone Cash.

What does "cheap VPS" realistically mean?

A cheap VPS is a small slice of a physical server with its own operating system, its own IP address and full root access. It is cheap because it is small and because you run it yourself. That brings three trade-offs.

  • Limited RAM and CPU. Entry plans are small, for example 1–2 vCPU and 2–4 GB RAM. That is enough for one focused job, not for many services at once.
  • Unmanaged. You install the software, apply updates and secure the server. The provider keeps the hardware and network running. If you have never used SSH, plan time to learn the basics.
  • Extras are extras. Backups, a control panel such as cPanel or Plesk, and managed support are usually paid add-ons at this tier. The headline price covers the server only.

None of this is a problem if you know what you will run. It becomes a problem when a $5 server is expected to do the work of a much larger one.

What can a $5 VPS run, and what can it not?

Take a typical entry plan: 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 40 GB NVMe. As a starting point, these are realistic expectations. Your own traffic and code decide the real limit, so monitor memory and CPU after launch.

Usually fits well Usually needs a bigger plan
One or a few low-traffic websites on Nginx or Apache A busy online store with many products and visitors
A small Node.js, Python or PHP app or API Several apps plus a database plus background workers
A Telegram or Discord bot, cron jobs, scripts cPanel or Plesk hosting many client sites
A development or testing environment Large databases or analytics workloads
One or two small Docker containers Video processing or running AI models
A light automation tool used by one person Windows Server (needs a Windows plan)

A useful habit: run free -h and htop for a few days after launch. If memory stays near the limit or the server starts using swap, move up one plan. Moving up one plan is usually simpler than tuning a server that is too small.

Which hidden costs should you check?

The monthly price is only part of the cost. Check these items before you compare offers.

Cost item What to check At IM HOST (Linux VPS)
Backups Are backups included, how often, and who restores them? Daily backups are an optional paid add-on
Control panel Is cPanel or Plesk included, or licensed separately? cPanel/Plesk are optional add-ons
Management Who updates and secures the server? Unmanaged by default; fully managed is an optional add-on
Renewal Is the renewal price the same as the first-term price? Check the price shown at checkout and on your invoice
Currency Which currency is the invoice in, and what does your bank charge? Invoices are in USD; EGP prices on the site are approximate
Taxes Is VAT added at checkout? No VAT or other taxes are added
Billing period Is yearly billing cheaper? Yearly billing saves 20%

Two practical notes on backups. First, a server without backups is a risk no matter how cheap it is. Either pay for the add-on or set up your own copies to storage outside the server. Second, test a restore once. A backup you have never restored is a guess.

On currency: if you pay by card, ask your bank whether foreign-currency payments are allowed on your card and what fees apply. Those fees are part of your real monthly cost.

IM HOST entry Linux VPS plans

These are the four lowest-priced Linux VPS plans at IM HOST. All use AMD EPYC 7313P processors and DDR4 ECC memory.

Plan Price / month vCPU RAM NVMe storage Monthly traffic
Nano $5.00 1 2 GB 40 GB 2 TB
Micro $6.00 2 2 GB 40 GB 4 TB
Lite $7.00 2 3 GB 40 GB 6 TB
Basic $8.00 2 4 GB 40 GB 8 TB

Prices are current on im-host.com as of November 2026 and may change.

What every Linux VPS plan includes: full root access, KVM virtualization, a dedicated IPv4 address plus an IPv6 /64, and a 1 Gbit port. Operating systems: Ubuntu 22.04/24.04, Debian 11/12, CentOS Stream 8/9 and AlmaLinux 8/9. Support engineers are available 24/7 in live chat and help when you ask, but the server itself is yours to run.

Location note. The plan cards for these AMD plans list Poland and Germany. IM HOST also has data centers in Cairo, London and New York; other locations are subject to stock, and the location is confirmed before activation. A server closer to your visitors usually responds faster. If your users are in Egypt, run ping and traceroute from your own connection to each option before you decide.

How to choose between them, as a rule of thumb: Nano for one small site, bot or test server. Micro if your app benefits from a second core. Basic if you run a database next to your app, because 4 GB gives more room. The jump from Nano to Basic is $3 per month.

How do you pay for a VPS from Egypt?

  1. Choose a plan and complete the order.
  2. Pay by card through Stripe, or ask support in live chat for InstaPay or Vodafone Cash transfer details.
  3. After an InstaPay or Vodafone Cash transfer, the amount is credited to your IM HOST account balance and the invoice is paid from it.
  4. Crypto (USDT, Bitcoin) through Cryptomus is also accepted.
  5. If your balance covers the renewal, the service renews automatically.

All invoices are in USD. The amount in Egyptian pounds follows the exchange rate on the day you pay.
