Windows VPS in Egypt: How to Choose the Right Server for Your Business

A Windows VPS gives you your own Windows Server machine in a data center, reachable from anywhere over Remote Desktop. Businesses in Egypt use it to run accounting and ERP software, host .NET applications, give remote teams a shared work environment, or keep trading platforms online around the clock. This guide walks through the choices that decide whether a Windows VPS works well for you.
1. Start with what will run on it
List the applications and how many people will log in at the same time. A single user running one trading platform needs a very different server from ten accountants working in an ERP all day. The number of simultaneous sessions and the weight of each application drive every other decision.
2. Size RAM for Windows, not for Linux
Windows Server uses more memory at idle than a minimal Linux server. As a starting point:
4 GB RAM, 2 cores: one user, light applications, one or two trading terminals.
8 GB RAM, 4 cores: a small team, a .NET web application, or accounting software with a local database.
16 GB RAM or more, 6+ cores: several simultaneous users, MS SQL Server, or heavier ERP systems.
Watch memory use during the first weeks. If it stays above 80%, add RAM before your users notice slowdowns.
3. Check the virtualization and access level
Ask whether you get a real virtual machine with full Administrator rights, or only a user account on a shared Windows server. A full VPS on KVM virtualization lets you install any software, manage Windows updates, configure the firewall and create users. A shared account does not.
4. Confirm the Windows license
Windows Server needs a license. Check whether it is included in the monthly price. If you need MS SQL Server, Office or Remote Desktop Services for multiple users, check their licensing too, because those are separate products.
5. Storage type and size
Windows updates, logs and application data grow quickly. Leave at least 30–40% of the disk free after installing your software. SSD or NVMe storage makes Windows itself, databases and file operations noticeably more responsive than older disks.
6. Choose the location
For users working from Egypt, a server close to them makes Remote Desktop feel more responsive because every click and screen update travels the network. For trading platforms, the location of your broker's servers matters more than yours. IM HOST operates in five countries, including Egypt (Cairo); all services are offered in every location, subject to stock, and we confirm your location before activation.
7. Secure Remote Desktop from day one
Use long, unique passwords for every account and disable unused accounts.
Restrict RDP to trusted IP addresses where possible, or change the default port.
Enable Network Level Authentication and account lockout after failed attempts.
Keep Windows Update on and take regular backups.
8. Paying from Egypt
Not everyone has an international card. IM HOST accepts Visa and Mastercard, crypto, and InstaPay or Vodafone Cash from Egypt, which top up your account balance and can pay renewals automatically. See our payment options.
